E3: Sony

E3 is starting tomorrow so I shall be taking a little look at what to expect from the console developers. I already talked about what to see from Microsoft, so now on to Microsoft's biggest rivals.

This year's E3 should be dominated by the Playstation Move. Expect to see a lot of games using Move in hopefully interesting ways. Hopefully the big publishers (EA, Activision, Ubisoft) will be showing some exclusive Move based games, or at the least exclusive in the way they're controlled games.

The price of the Move for other regions and a firm release date should be announced.

PSP, is there a console that has been so unloved out there? The PSPgo was an interesting idea but was too expensive and the games the games that were available were too expensive. Will there be a PSP2 announced? I'm unsure. It seems a bit soon for a new PSP and a lot of changes to the current hardware will need to be made. An ideal PSPgo would get rid of the cumbersome and unnecessary UMD drive and replace it with some sort of flash memory, maybe some riff on Sony's proprietary format the memory stick pro duo. Add in a second analogue stick for some twin shooters, a multi touch screen, some improvements to the graphics and Sony will be onto a winner.

The PS3 will be showing of it's 3D capabilities as well with probably some new titles that will be 3D out of the box. A hands on demo of Killzone 3 is a lock in to happen at E3 but I doubt the press presentation will be showing off 3D for obvious reasons.

Other things that should happen is another trailer or a demo of LittleBigPlanet 2, SOCOM 4 showing off its Move capabilities for more traditional games, some PSN downloadable games and hopefully a lot more of Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Up next Nintendo....
