At Microsoft's E3 press conference, Harmonix, creator of Amplitude, FreQuency, Rock Band and many other games, announced that it will have a game for Microsofts new Kinect motion camera called Dance Central.
In this game you will be able to use Kinect to recreate the dances of several famous pop, hip-hop and R&B songs from the comfort of your living room. Shown off in the presentation was an expert Demo of Bell Biv Devoe's Poison which features on screen prompts of each dance move you're supposed to be doing and rates you if you're in time and accurate with your poses.
So far so good.
Harmonix has been working with several dance instructors to make sure that the dances that you're doing are accurate and fit the style of song.
They then showed a member of the Harmonix team who announced that he was rubbish at dancing and obviously playing at an easier difficulty to No Doubt's Hella Good he was doing some elbow throws, air guitar and some side punches. This will be what most people will play and seems to be a bit of a laugh, especially if the background dancers can be swapped out for your real friends.
So why do I think this will be Kinect's killer app? After the success of Just Dance, this is the natural progression of the dance game and seems to be able to teach you to dance. It also seems to be a great way of keeping your body in shape as some of the dances will be very tricky to do and very quick and up tempo.
So all in all a fun game to keep your eye on and could help you lose weight a bit better than wii fit could...
And as an added bonus,
