Rebooted SSX Seems A Step Too Far

First, an admission. I was a HUGE SSX fan back in the day. I'd go as far as to say it's probably one of my all time favourite game series out there and I've been wishing it back for a while. Well at the Spike VGA's it was announced, and the fans went mild.

To put in perspective, here's how I remember SSX games in the past: Big crazy ramps, impossible tricks, over the top characters and generally a lot of fun to begin with.

So why the fan backlash to the new game, surely anything that follows the tried and true formula would be popular again, right? Unfortunately EA has decided that SSX needs "rebooting", an awful catch all term for games that have been around a while in order to get new fans. In their preview video, SSX:Deadly Descent comes across more Call of Duty than snowboarding arcade game.

Will this game be good, hard to say, I'll pass judgement till some gameplay is shown, but I have to say I am feeling disenfranchised if this is the direction they're going. Still, I always have that copy of SSX 3 to remind me how good snowboarding games can be.
